Situation in Wainwright a ‘one in every 15 to 25-year disaster’ with the injured taken to hospitals in Edmonton
Multiple people have been killed and injured after a deadly blaze tore through one of Canada’s busiest military training bases in Alberta, Canada’s defence minister said on Saturday.
“I’m saddened to share that there have been both fatalities and injuries as a result of an incident on the base,” said David McGuinty. The defence minister described the situation at CFB Wainwright as “active and delicate” with the fire being monitored very closely, telling reporters that high winds had worsened the fire.
