Has Punjab shut down schools, colleges for four days amid security threat?

LAHORE – Social media in Pakistan remained abuzz today with reports of “four holidays in all public and private educational institutions amid security threats”.

According to a notification being circulating online, the government has decided schools and other educational institutions will remain closed from January 25 to January 28.

The notification, which is yet to be verified, read that “all Educational Institutions (Schools, Colleges and Universities) in Punjab (Public & Private) will remain closed from 25 January 2024 till 28th January 2024 in the wake of security threats to control the situation of law and order in the province.”

While a number of people shared the notification in question to their social media accounts, claiming it were true, many believed it to be fake and misleading.

There is yet no word from the government or the department concerned.

This story will be updated when more information is provided.
