Major crackdown on tinted windows and unregistered cars in Islamabad: Details inside

The Excise Department in Islamabad has launched a strict crackdown against unregistered vehicles, those with non-standard number plates, and cars with tinted windows. The initiative aims to enforce traffic regulations more rigorously across the federal capital.

As part of the campaign, excise officials are imposing heavy fines on violators, with no exceptions made based on the area of registration. In addition, other major cities like Quetta and Peshawar are also taking measures to curb the use of tinted windows, which are prohibited under current law.

According to the Excise Department’s guidelines, fines will vary based on vehicle engine capacity:

  • Vehicles up to 1,000 cc: Rs. 5,000
  • Vehicles between 1,000 cc and 2,000 cc: Rs. 10,000
  • Vehicles above 2,000 cc: Rs. 20,000

Director Excise Bilal Azam emphasized that no external pressure will influence the enforcement of these fines, stating that vehicle registrations will be canceled until all penalties are cleared. Additionally, if a vehicle is found in violation of the law a second time, the fine will increase fivefold, as per the Chief Commissioner’s directive.

This move is part of a broader effort to ensure compliance with traffic laws and maintain order on the roads of Pakistan’s major cities.
