Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir vowed to continue the campaign against “Indian-sponsored terrorist outfits” and “hit them hard wherever they are”, the military's media wing said on Friday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), CDF Munir visited Corps Headquarters in Peshawar. Upon arrival, he was received by the Commander Peshawar Corps.
The army chief was briefed on the prevailing security situation, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, border management measures, and the operational preparedness of formations deployed in the province.
“Field Marshal commended the high morale and professionalism of officers and troops, directing them to continue vigilance and highest standards of operational readiness to effectively counter threats,” the statement said.
ISPR said that “He underscored that we would continue the campaign against Indian sponsored terrorist outfits to the fullest and hit them hard wherever they are."
“While paying tributes to the sacrifices of the people of Pakistan, including Shuhada and Ghazis of the security forces, CDF Munir affirmed that with the support of the people, Pakistan would surely inflict total defeat to the terrorists and their perverted ideology,” the statement concluded.

A day earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif defended the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), saying the measures had been necessitated by the deteriorating security situation, and vowed to restore peace, prosperity and development in the province.
Addressing a meeting of the apex committee on the National Action Plan at Governor House in Peshawar, the prime minister said the government had been compelled to take difficult decisions and pledged to work with the military leadership to address the province’s security and development challenges.
Defending the decision, he maintained that the Constitution and law empowered the government to take the measures implemented in K-P. He thanked the coalition partners for supporting the move, particularly President Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif.
The prime minister also announced that an advisory council comprising competent and honest individuals from different professional backgrounds had been established. He expressed confidence that collective efforts would improve security and living conditions in the province.
