August 2026 has been a particularly tragic month for women in Cameroon, as eight cases of femicides were recorded in eight days. These figures add to the sixty or so cases already recorded since the start of the year by the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family. On the ground, associations are mobilising to provide legal and psychological support to families in a country where a complaint of domestic violence rarely leads to a conviction.
